Volunteering

Volunteering really is an excellent way to get involved in and contribute to the work of Beatbullying. We have many excellent new opportunities to support us as we begin our national expansion.  You might be a returnee to work and need a little experience to get you up to date, or a student looking for something during vacations, a career changer or just somebody looking for a new challenge. Whatever you are looking for, chances are Beatbullying can match a volunteering opportunity to your needs.

What can we offer?

Beatbullying has a comprehensive range of opportunities for volunteers, including working with:

  • children and young people and supporting the Beatbullying development team as a Volunteer Development Officer.
  • the Beatbullying fundraising team. You can get involved with events, marketing and / or fundraising activities.
  • the Beatbullying communications team and supporting the varied work of our specialist communications, media and public affairs team.
  • the research and policy team. Beatbullying surveys thousands of young people and professionals on a whole range of bullying related issues, offline and also online and the work that this team conducts is critical to informing policy at all levels.
  • the creative team. Our creative team is second to none. Everything from web design, video and film, photography, art and design and web programming – is all conducted in house.

Some of our longest serving staff originally joined Beatbullying as volunteers and are still going strong. If you have skills or interests in any of the opportunities listed or just want to join the team, learn and be challenged, then we would like to hear from you! Contact Beatbullying on 020 8771 3377 or email us at info@beatbullying.org and request our Volunteer's Application Pack.

A volunteer's view from Rebecca Charles

"I have been a volunteer with Beatbullying for a year and a half. My interest in this area is a personal one, I have experienced bullying and know about the emotional cost. I also work in the profession of childcare, and wanted to try and make a difference.

Work that I have done so far has included planning activities and scenarios for workshops and youth panels which I have been regularly involved in. The young people have the chance to express themselves fully on the increasing problem of bullying. Seeing these young people grow in knowledge and feeling confident to convey their message to bullies and victims is rewarding. This is done by creating and designing their own websites, leaflets and posters which Beatbullying thoroughly promote within their different boroughs.

Volunteering for Beatbullying is a privilege, staff value your input and work. Time is one of the most precious things you can give, and it is highly appreciated by everyone at BB. So if you are reading this and just thinking about volunteering, think about transferring and enhancing your skills and knowledge for an incredible charity that truly cares about the future and the lives of young people."
