Beatbullying's YouTube channel >>
The site was created using the ideas from students at Dulwich Village C of E Primary School, Dulwich Hamlet Juniors, Goose Green, Langbourne Primary, Summerhouse PRU and St Anthony's Catholic Primary School. Two primary schools from Northern Ireland also made significant contributions.
Students worked hard developing strategies to tackle bullying, classroom charters for their schools and great artwork and films that can be seen on the site.
Ty was constructed from several profiles provided by pupils from Summerhouse PRU - in particular, by Adam, Nathaniel and Andrew. Navigate by clicking on the coloured tabs to read practical advice on dealing with bullying. The NEED HELP sign takes you to a list of organisations working in the area of bullying and helpful telephone numbers and websites.
Drawings and paintings are made as part of the process of discussing bullying as an issue. Pupils are encouraged to develop emotional expression and record experiences and thoughts. Often these sessions produce straplines and captions that will echo through a sequence of work and develop into a theme.
A photo gallery of all the great work contributed to the workshops. Just keep clicking on the arrows to move through the gallery.
Students contributed artwork to match sections of the story about Katie trying to join in on playground activities with her peers. They had to think in detail about how Katie felt and how they would best represent these feelings in visual form.
Two brilliant animation shorts by an animator who worked with two Northern Ireland primary schools. They represent the responses and solutions of the children to tackle bullying within their own community. Click on the INFO buttons to get more information for each short.
The friendship bench was used as a key way of drawing out each classroom charter and to recognise the importance of peer support and working together. Use the pencils to navigate each classroom charter.
