It was reported last week that a 13 year old boy, Sam Leeson, took his own life because he was being cyber bullied. It emerged after his death that Sam was a target of bullies because of his 'alternative appearance and taste in music' which had extended to the internet.
For Beatbullying, this is yet another tragic example of the serious consequences of bullying: at least 20 young people each year will take their own life as a result of bullying.
No child should ever feel be made to feel this way, and good bullying prevention work, such as Beatbullying's Mentoring schemes, should be in place for every child in every school in the country to prevent tragedies like this happening.
