Are attempts by schools to tackle knife crime exaggerating the problem?

The BBC have reported that experts fear that ‘glitzy’ assemblies and superficial workshops could inadvertently back fire and glamorize violence while meaning to do the opposite.

Some teachers warned that we must not patronise pupils, or over exaggerate the problem, whilst acknowledging something needed to be done. The DCSF agreed that any delivery of work to tackle knife crime must be carefully designed and appropriate

Beatbullying’s Peer mentoring model is proven to work at reducing conflict and violent behaviour, and have the power to change attitudes. So shouldn’t the government be implementing these programmes in every school so that every child can feel the benefit and take action against the issues that affect them the most?
