Celebrities invest in Beatbullying

19.11.2007

Celebrities like Jo Whiley, Dame Kelly Holmes, Kym Ryder and Scissor Sister Anamatronic join forces in an unprecedented anti bullying campaign for Beatbullying’s The Big Stand and their new fashion range backed by retail giant mkone.

The vests feature Beatbullying’s signature circular logo emblazoned in crystals across the front giving it a unique and unmistakeable style.

Tipped to become the hottest fashion item of the Summer, the garments are not only for the style conscious, but also for those who want to send a message that they do not tolerate bullying and want to live in a world where bullying is unacceptable.

Already wearing the stylish vests are famous faces such as Girls Aloud, JoJo, Chantelle Preston, Claire Cooper, Siobhan Donaghy and Danielle Harmer.

The vests, available exclusively at mkone stores, are cotton rib vests and come in an array of brilliant colours including white, black, fluoro pink, cheerleader yellow, fluoro green, latino turquoise, latino pink, lime, fluoro yellow, grey marl and tangerine.

Emma-Jane Cross, Chief Executive of Beatbullying, said: “The funds raised from the sales of these items will allow Beatbullying to continue to help thousands of young people all over the UK. If you are against bullying, and I know all of us are, then go out and support us by buying our top. Just one vest will make a huge difference to our ongoing work with young people whose lives have been devastated by bullying.”

Suet Cheung, Buying Director of mkone said: “We are delighted to be working alongside Beatbullying and joining forces to design this season’s must-have charity garment. Beatbullying is a fantastic and dynamic charity doing incredibly important work and we are very proud to be supporting them.”

Two time charity of the year (in 2005 and 2006), Beatbullying has a successful reputation for charity merchandise. The famous multiple celebrity endorsed blue wristband campaign in 2004 carried the name Beatbullying and the charity’s merchandising success continued in 2006 with branded dog-tags.

At 10am on Friday 25 May 2007, Beatbullying is asking everybody in the UK to stand up in defiance against bullying and in solidarity with the millions of people suffering bullying. This will form the world’s biggest stand. For more information on how to participate visit www.beatbullying.org/thebigstand.

mkone staff throughout the country will be making the Big Stand on the morning of the 25 May. They will also be featured modelling the t-shirts in the window displays and point of sale as a sign of solidarity with the Beatbullying campaign. A cross-section of mkone staff bravely stepped in front of the camera to highlight the cause including Suet Cheung, Buying Director, Hayley White, Footwear Buyer’s Admin, Dawn Paskin, Merchandising and Linda John, Accounts plus Hayley’s younger sister, Adrienne and Dawn’s daughter Amber.

The t-shirts will be on sale this Summer with limited availability from Saturday 19th May, 2007 in mkone stores nationwide. They will retail at £6.00 for Ladies and Chapter (sizes 18-24) and £5.00 for Sophie (girls age 9-14). To find the store nearest you, please go to www.mkone.co.uk
