Beatbullying has been piloting anti-bullying workshops at HMP Downview with young offenders in the juvenile unit. The workshops have been very well received - they provide a unique opportunity for prisoners to talk through their anxieties and understand their emotions and anger; leading to better ways of dealing with bullying and violence. One group, keen to be trained as prison anti-bullying mentors, have asked their Senior Officer to form their own anti-bullying group in the prison to help others and raise awareness. Feedback has been brilliant: “The group was amazing. I would like to become a peer mentor. Thank you for coming to Downview” “I'd like more information on how to become a peer mentor. It is something I would like to do”. For information about booking prison workshops, please email laura@beatbullying.org.
