Popstar joins Beatbullying's The Big March with the release of charity single

Pixie Lott today donates her anti-bullying anthem ‘Get Weak,’ penned about the pressures of bullying, to raise awareness of the World’s first global online protest campaign The Big March launched by charity Beatbullying.

In her new role as ambassador for the charity, Pixie has created a virtual representation of herself - an avatar complete with her trade mark platinum blonde hair and big hazel eyes – which will join 400,000 other supporters on the pioneering protest march.

Pixie’s avatar also stars in a poignant music video to accompany the heartfelt anthem, which includes lyrics like ‘Don’t let ‘em get into your head/ Don’t let ‘em bully you like that’.

Pixie’s Big March anthem, ‘Get Weak,’ is available for free download for a limited period at www.beatbullying.org/bigmarch and on our iTunes page to inspire young people to get involved and ask Government to do more to combat bullying.

From 8am on November 15th web users can spot Pixie’s avatar amongst those from celebrities like Aston from JLS, The Saturdays, Corrie’s Michelle Keegan, Alexandra Burke and Alesha Dixon as they take over computer screens across the UK in the world’s first online march for social good. They’ll storm across websites like the Office of the Children’s Commissioner, the Metropolitan Police, Barry M, Yahoo, Girlguiding UK, AOL and MTV to deliver a virtual petition to No.10 asking the Government to take a stand against bullying.

The Big March calls for the creation of an inter-departmental Bullying Review to work with victims of bullying, schools and Government on tackling bullying, harassment and violence against children and young people. It will also ask for the creation of a School Safety Bill making it explicitly against the law to hurt, harass or bully children in schools, and a Cyber Bullying Act to protect children online.

As she launches the charity single, Pixie Lott said:

“Make a stand and join me on the Big March and also know that there is support available at cybermentors.org.uk.

As an ambassador of Beatbullying I know that anyone can be a victim of bullying – it’s not embarrassing!

“Tall or short, skinny or big, they always find something to pick at.

“Don’t let them win. If you’re determined to make it, you can and you will.

Emma-Jane Cross, CEO of Beatbullying, commented:

“We are so excited that Pixie Lott has signed up as Beatbullying’s newest ambassador and joined The Big March – we’re sure her fantastic track will inspire more young people to make a stand and join our march this anti bullying week.

“Bullying of any kind is completely unacceptable and with the help of Pixie and all our supporters we hope to start building strong foundations with our most vulnerable members - our millions of children and young people.

“No-one deserves to experience bullying, harassment or violence of any kind and we all have the chance to make a real difference by standing up to be counted and showing we won’t put up with this behaviour.”
