Analysis for BBSports (March 2010)
For young people
- 2064 children and young people have graduated through the BBSports programmes since September 2008 (N=848 female)
- 56 partner organisations have embedded BBSports within their school, organisation or community group in 18 local authority areas
- 61% of participants are from Black and Minority Ethnic Groups; 29% are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM); 6% reported a disability or Statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN); 12% are young carers; and 4% are learning to speak English as a second language
- 94% enjoyed the workshop overall, rating it as either “good” or “excellent”
- 87% improved their understanding of bullying
- Three quarters (75%) have an improved understanding of the effects of bullying
- 69% said they are now able to help others who are experiencing bullying
- 61% report an increase in confidence as a result of their involvement with BBSports

For Schools and Professionals
- 100% of educational professionals rated the BBSports programmes as either an “excellent” or “good” way of engaging young people around bullying issues
- 100% of professionals would recommend BBSports to other colleagues or schools
- After six months, bullying has reduced by an average of 57% in participating schools and community areas
- After six months, reporting has increased by an average of 48% as a result of BB’s intervention
