Analysis for BBMusic (March 2010)

For young people

  • 2,446 children and young people have graduated from BBMusic programme since September 2008, of which 1,179 (48%) were male
  • BBMusic has worked in 57 schools, organisations and community groups, located in 9 boroughs or local authority areas
  • 62% were from Black and Ethnic Minority Groups; 33% were eligible for Free School Meals (FSM); and 3% reported a disability
  • 97% enjoyed the BBMusic workshop
  • 72% learnt more about bullying
  • 60% now know what they can do to stop bullying
  • 50% reported being able to help others who are bullied
  • 47% reported feeling more confident as a result of their involvement in BBMusic
  • 49% learnt how to stay safe and keep away from trouble

For Schools and Professionals

  • 100% rated the programme as either “good” or “excellent” following their observations, feedback and discussions with the young people participating
  • 100% of teachers and educational professionals would recommend BBMusic to other schools and colleagues
  • After three months, bullying reduced by an average of 31.5% in participating schools and community areas
  • After three months, reporting increased by an average of 41.4%
