I have been working as a New Media intern for three months now, and it has flown by! It all started with a phone call, I was really nervous about the phone call but I was happy that I had been accepted to do the internship. It has been a dream to work as part of the team at Beatbullying, as I have been a Senior CyberMentor for two years now. After the phone call, I was really nervous but excited at the same time and was really looking forward to meet everyone and get started with the internship.
On day one I felt nervous about starting my internship, but overall I was very excited. Soon as I walked through the office doors everyone was welcoming (including Jarvis) and made me feel right at home. My few days it was about getting to know everyone and get some knowledge about the other departments within the charity. I then began doing different jobs including; entertaining Jarvis, sorting out data bases, downloading videos, doing work on social networking sites and many more jobs. Half way through my internship, I was invited to the staff away day, which made me feel really important and felt part of the team. The staff away day gave me a lot of inside knowledge of what goes on at the away days. I was also included in the fortnightly meetings with everyone and it was a brilliant experience. One thing that I will never forget about this internship is being included in the staff social, I had never been invited to anything like this before so being invited meant a lot to me. I really enjoyed the social and had a great laugh.
Working at Beatbullying has made my summer holidays go really fast, but very enjoyable at the same time. I have had a great experience working on the new media team. With this internship, my CV is going to look great alongside all my other volunteering jobs and past jobs. If anyone is looking into doing an internship with Beatbullying, I would recommend it. It’s the best experience and everyone is really friendly. I have made a lot of new friends and I hope to stay in touch with everyone and I would like to thank everyone for being so welcoming and making me feel part of the team.
I will miss you all so much, however you will see me online more now and I will be coming to visit when I am home from University.
