Beatbullying responds to the launch of guidance on how to stop the bullying of children with special needs or disabilities:

Responding to the Government’s announcement of measures to improve the lives of disabled children and their families, Emma-Jane Cross, Chief Executive of Beatbullying, made the following statement:

“Beatbullying welcomes this new guidance aimed at helping schools tackle the bullying of disabled children, and hopes that it will be widely distributed and integrated into all aspects of working with young people."

Schools to 'demonstrate' against bullying

08 May 2008

Leading bullying prevention charity, Beatbullying, launches a new campaign to encourage everyone in the UK to stand up against bullying.

The charity launches a new advertising campaign with the help of Dame Kelly Holmes, National Lottery presenter and Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills, Charley Boorman, and the London Wasps rugby team, who all appear in the advert to promote The Big Stand 2008.

NASUWT’s Gangs and Schools Report

Beatbullying welcomes the interim findings of the NASUWT’s Gangs and Schools Report published on Friday 18/04/08.

Emma-Jane Cross, Chief Executive of Beatbullying, said: “Beatbullying is aware of the links between bullying and gang culture, with bullying often the precursor to serious and violent behaviours related to gangs. It is heartening to see the NASUWT painting a realistic picture of the problem and offering positive and sensible recommendations.

Can we improve discipline in schools?

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Gordon Brown backed plans to extend the Cadet force in more British comprehensive schools.   The Tories aren’t against the idea either, and they outlined their own separate plans to tackle discipline and behaviour in schools on Monday in policy document titled Giving Power Back to Teachers.
